Last month we found out that Jake Gyllenhaal was in early discussions to star in End of Watch, yet another police drama from director David Ayer (Street Kings, Harsh Times). Now Variety is reporting that Michael Pena (Crash, Observe and Report) is negotiating to join the film as well. The gritty cop drama is said to follow the friendship between two longtime partners played by Pena and Gyllenhaal. Ayer is writing the film as well (whose plot has yet to be revealed) and he'll also produce the film by way of his Crave Films production banner. As of now it's not clear how soon the project will get off the ground though.
Pena has mostly take on comedy recently, but his breakthrough role in Crash proves he can handle drama too. As for Gyllenhaal, it remains to be seen if he'll end up taking the lead role in The Bourne Legacy. ...
